Working together for change – getting the foundations in place

Getting strategic change right to match the needs of commissioners and people receiving services is a process worth investing in. In August 2009, the Department of Heath produced a guide ‘Working together for change: using person-centred information for commissioning’. The foundations of the recommended process come from person-centred planning (PCP). Areas for change are identified by analysing themes that emerge from data drawn from three questions that PCP explores; ‘what is working in your life?’, ‘what is not working?’ and ‘what are your aspirations for the future?’ Community Options has four years experience implementing PCP, delivering training and supervising PCP practice in mental-health services.

Here are just a few comments from October’s course participants:

“Thanks for your expertise and enthusiasm – PCP now feels real and achievable.”
“Wonderful training course, I learned lots and thoroughly enjoyed it.”
“The trainers were really good presenters and made the course interesting and clear.”
“Wonderful trainers.”
“I liked the opportunities to practice the techniques.”
