Promotes Service User Involvement across the London Borough of Tower Hamlets

The Mental Health Service User Involvement Project supports and promotes Service User Involvement across the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and is jointly funded by Tower Hamlets Adult Health and Wellbeing and Tower Hamlets Primary Care Trust.

Our aim is to:
• Provide information on rights and access to services
• Support people to make informed choices
• Support and develop a range of service user groups
• Support peope to take part in local decision making groups
• Empower individuals, to become involved in the planning and development of local services

We recruit, train and support service users to be involved in mental health services. We work with Community Development Workers, Statutory and Voluntary Sector agencies to promote inclusion and involvement.

Our aim is to:
• Training
• Mentoring
• Facilitate peer support

Who is the service for:
• People with mental health needs who are living in the community
• People who want to be involved in the planning and delivery of local mental health services
• People who wish to develop skills and confidence to be able to express their rights and make informed choices

How is the service provided? Through a dedicated team of workers who have a range of skils in mental health; knowledge of diverse communities; cultures and languages in the borough.
